Assessment Questions

  • A psychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation used when social, emotional, learning or behavioural concerns are present and more information is needed about the cause, impact or recommended next steps. Assessment results can help clarify diagnoses, guide treatment planning and support recommendations for school, work or everyday functioning.

  • SilverTree Psychology’s offers several types of assessment, including general psychological, neuropsychological, psychoeducational and forensic evaluations. These may be used to explore concerns related to ADHD, learning disorders, memory, brain injury, concussion, emotional functioning, return-to-work, fitness-for-duty and other diagnostic questions.

  • Online quizzes can be a helpful starting point, but they can’t replace a comprehensive psychological assessment.

A formal assessment is conducted by a trained psychologist using validated, standardized tools and clinical expertise. It provides a deeper, more accurate understanding of how you think, learn and function, along with clear, practical recommendations for next steps.

  • The assessment process typically includes a clinical interview, review of relevant history and records, and testing tailored to the questions being asked. Depending on the client, the process may involve the individual alone or the individual and their caregiver. At the end of the process, feedback is provided on testing results, diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.

  • We ask clients to provide as much relevant background information as possible. This can include previous evaluations, medical reports, academic records and, where relevant, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). That information is used alongside the clinical interview to determine the most appropriate assessment.

  • A psychological assessments typically take two to four hours to complete, followed by additional time for record review, scoring, interpretation and report writing.

  • Clients can expect to wait approximately two weeks for reports. The rates page also notes that the feedback or results session is usually scheduled about two weeks after the final day of testing, and in most cases the detailed report is provided at that session.

  • Testing refers to formal tools such as questionnaires and checklists that have been standardized and norm-referenced.

Assessment is broader and involves integrating testing results with interview information, background history and clinical interpretation to understand the whole person and guide recommendations.

  • People are complex and a single test can’t capture the full picture.

At SilverTree Psychology, assessments are designed using multiple tools and data points that work together to understand how different factors interact. This approach helps ensure greater accuracy, reduces the risk of over-diagnosis, and provides a clearer, more complete understanding of your unique profile.

  • CADDRA can be a helpful general resource, but it relies heavily on self-report measures and historical information.

At SilverTree Psychology, we use standardized, protected testing methods that are designed to provide more reliable and objective results. While personal history is still an important part of the process, assessments are grounded in validated tools and clinical interpretation to ensure accuracy and integrity.

  • No. All assessments, scoring, interpretation and reports are completed directly by Dr. Silverman. Your information is reviewed and interpreted using clinical expertise and standardized methods, not automated tools.
