Policies & Procedures

Below you’ll find important details about how SilverTree Psychology operates, including payment, scheduling, confidentiality and records. These policies are in place to ensure a smooth, respectful and professional experience for all clients.

Clear expectations help create a more focused and supportive experience, allowing us to keep our attention where it matters most: your care. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Please note: SilverTree Psychology reserves the right to refuse/discharge a patient from treatment and/or services at any time, for any reason.

  • SilverTree Psychology operates on a private-pay model and does not offer direct billing to insurance providers or provincial programs.

Payment is required at the time of service.

Invoices can be provided following your appointment, which may be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement depending on your individual plan. As coverage varies, we recommend confirming eligibility with your provider in advance.

    Accepted payment methods include:

    • Visa

    • MasterCard

    • Discover

    • American Express

    Cash payments are not accepted.

  • Appointments are reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.

Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, will be subject to a cancellation fee.

This policy allows us to offer availability to other individuals seeking care and ensures that scheduled time is used effectively.

  • Appointments are scheduled directly through the practice and must be confirmed in advance.

You may receive appointment reminders by email, phone or text. Confirmation is completed through the electronic booking system.

As a small private practice without administrative staff, we appreciate your attention to scheduling details and timely communication regarding any changes.

  • SilverTree Psychology operates without a front desk or administrative team.

All communication is managed directly through the practice. Please allow approximately 24-72 hours for responses to emails or inquiries. We aim to respond as promptly as possible and appreciate your patience.

For any emergencies, please dial 9-1-1 or get to the nearest emergency room.

  • Your privacy is a priority. All information shared during sessions, along with written records, is kept confidential. Information will only be disclosed:

    • with your written consent, or

    • where required by law or necessary to protect your safety or the safety of others

This ensures that your personal information is handled with care, professionalism and respect.

  • If you would like your records shared with another provider, a signed Release of Information form is required. You may also have the provider who is requesting the records send us your signed release form to info@silvertreepsychology.ca.

    • There is no charge for records sent to healthcare providers, schools or agencies involved in your care

    • A $50 fee applies for records sent to parents, attorneys or non-treatment-related requests

  • SilverTree Psychology works with families in a variety of circumstances and welcomes involvement from both parents or guardians where appropriate. However:

    • The practice does not act as a mediator between parents

    • Responsibility for communication between parents rests with the parents or guardians

    • The practice is not responsible for sharing appointment information with a non-attending parent

If separate consultations are requested, they can be arranged and may be subject to additional fees.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more common across many professions, including healthcare.

We do not use AI in any part of the assessment process, including scoring, interpretation or report writing.

Psychological assessment requires careful analysis, clinical judgment and an understanding of each individual’s unique context. Automated tools are not able to provide the level of integration, accuracy or nuance required for this work.

All assessments and reports at SilverTree Psychology are:

    • Reviewed and interpreted using standardized, validated methods

    • Carefully integrated using clinical expertise

    • Written directly by Dr. Silverman

This ensures that your results are accurate, meaningful and grounded in professional standards, not automated output.
